Confirmation Welcome Letter

Confirmation Registration Form

Confirmation Expectation Form

  • Confirmation Sunday is on May 21st
  • Confirmation ceremony will be held during the 9:15am worship service.
  • Please have your Confirmand meet at 8:00am in our Confirmation Class Room (C230).
  • We will get organized and have a brief conversation about the service and then all walk down to the Worship Center together.
  • The class will be seated together in alphabetical order at the front center section.
  • Immediately following the 9:15am service there will be a reception in the Gym for the Confirmation Class/family
  • We ask that parents please provide a cross for their Confirmand to be given as a gift at the reception. All crosses should have the name of the Confirmand and the date on the back. These crosses are to be left in the Youth Room where they will hang on the wall until graduation when they will be given back at Senior Dinner, or in some cases when your child leaves GSUMC prior to graduation.

When its time, Pastor Bill will ask the Confirmands to come to the altar rail. Because we have a large class this year, our class will broken-up into 2 or 3 groups at a time. The Confirmands who are also being baptized will go with the first group. All other interested parties will stay where they are! Pastor Bill will ask that when your confirmand is being confirmed, that you stand in your place at that time. This is true for family/sponsors and anyone else who would claim your child as theirs if they could!

There is no need for extra special attire for this service but please have your Confirmand dress nice. Jeans/slacks/dress are fine, as long as it is a fairly nice thing (like...no holey jeans, shorts & flip flops or old yard clothes!).

If you have a child that is participating in the Confirmation Class but is not planning to be confirmed, they have a couple of options. 1. They can come, sit with their class and stay in their seat as those being confirmed go to the alter rail, or 2. They can come and sit with you during service and be there to support their class. We would encourage ALL class members to attend the reception following the service. This reception is to recognize all who participated in the program, not only those confirmed.

The Let’s Talk About IT Retreat has been rescheduled and the curriculum modified to be delivered on Wednesday Nights (April 5, 12, 19 and 26th) during regularly scheduled Bible Study time. These weeks in Bible Study we will focus and shine a light on the touchy subjects of purity and sexuality. We know the information the world is teaching our youth about sexuality is very different from the plan God had originally intended for us. The fact is, your child is already forming their moral beliefs and ideas, and these beliefs are being molded and shaped by their cultural and relational experiences. Your home culture and your relationship with your teen has been influencing them for years. But gradually, as your teen starts to gain more and more independence, the culture around them and their outside-of-the-home relationships will become some of their biggest influences. It is during this growth period (in maturity, physically and sexually) that your son or daughter will form, what will be, their life-long morality and ethic code that they will rely on as they become adults. Therefore it is important for the loudest and most clear message to be Biblically sound. And we hope to offer them some insight into God’s message for the youth of today regarding sex, relationships and their sexuality. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about the curriculum we will be presenting. And see this FAQ to answer any of your more pressing questions.

Are you interested in taking your spiritual life to a deeper level? Are you interested in being a part of a group that will help hold each other accountable to living each day for the glory and honor of God? Are you interested in being a part of a group that will share with you in your joys and encourage and support you in your struggles? If you are in High School and would like more information about Accountability Groups, please see Jeff or email jeffd@goodchurch.us and we'll get you plugged into a group!

We love getting to know your kids, and it is our desire to develop a strong relationship with each of them that goes far beyond the walls of the church. To do that, we like visiting with students at school during their lunch period on Wednesdays. Cy-Fair ISD has created a system to ensure safety at their schools which requires that parents fill out a permission slip to allow the Youth Directors to visit your child during lunch. Unless we have a permission slip on file with the school, we are not allowed to visit with them. If your student is interested in having us visit, please fill out the permission slip and return to the youth office. Click on Lunch Lady image for the form.
